When I am traveling through NorCal, I go out of my way to visit House of Bagels more than once a trip. I LOVE the pesto bagel - it's super unique and tastes great with lox and schmear. I may or may not have been late to very important things because I wanted to grab a pesto bagel last minute. That's how much I love this place. San Jose is sitting on a bagel goldmine!
Besides the pesto bagel, they have a huge menu including coffee and other bagel varieties. This is definitely a popular spot for locals and college students. The "house" is located next to a 7/11 and the university and has a few parking spots. I say "house" because it's closer to the size of a shack, but "Shack of Bagels" doesn't have that special ring to it. A more worthy name would be "Palace of the Golden Green Bagel" and I would happily serve in its royal bagel court. -

Mmmm bagels. Love to walk down here on the weekends for a bagel breakfast sandwich. Jalapeño cheddar bagel is my personal favorite, or Asiago!
You'll get to see the selection of goodies since they're all displayed in the case.
Enjoy the cool mural outside and also the mural of floating bagels and clouds when you come in! You'll be welcomed in by the scent of toasted bagels getting shown some love.
The service is fairly fast and friendly, what's not to love here?
What's your favorite bagel here, and if you haven't stopped in come give it a try! -

Honestly, really disappointed with today's experience. I came in this morning, on my way to work, and ordered a pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese, lox and tomato. The bagel came out to $10.50 (which is $3 more than Noah's charges for the same exact thing) and received my bagel with no smoked salmon but I obviously only discovered that after getting to the office. Tried calling (because I really wanted that salmon!) and nobody picked up.
The guys making my bagel were also extremely unprofessional. I was the only one waiting for my order and it definitely took more than 10 minutes for them to make it. On top of that, I assume they thought that I couldn't hear them because the two guys were criticizing the order by saying "oh, I hate salmon. I don't know why anyone in the right mind would order salmon". Well guess what! They were so caught up on the fact that I liked salmon that they forgot to put it in the bagel!
Back to Noah's for all of my future bagel needs! -

I was craving chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was as big as my hand and it wasn't chewy. It was like crispy but felt a bit hard. My ideal type of chocolate is gooey ooey soft and chewy cookie. The staff were nice and I would come back to try other pastry and dessert since I love sweets.

2 stars for great tasting bagels and pastries. But their service and prepared food consistency is so terrible that it's hard to give any more stars. Today I ordered a bagel for my 7 year old daughter, plain bagel, lightly toasted, easy plain cream cheese, to go. Super simple order. Received: burnt bagel, extra cream cheese, for here. Asked to redo and they scraped the cream cheese off and packed it to-go. So stinking lazy. Check your orders before you leave.
